Small introduction for new managers.

Greetings from Estonia!
It is me Vilpu again - I would like to run for Island National team at least one more season. You ask why am I running one more time?
First of all, at the beginning of new season the World Cup qualification phase is going to start. During the whole last season I prepared for the WCQ phase. Tried lot and lot of new tactics. Did lot of scouting etc. Now I have found the best tactics and best players we can use against top countries.
And I think we are almost ready. We need only bit stamina for our best players.

Who am I?
My name is Taavi. I am 20 years old and I live in Estonia.
At the moment I am a student in the Tallinn University. I study Sports – hope to become a basketball coach or sports/physical education teacher in school. At he moment I have a part time job as basketball trainer.
In my free time I do sports. I play basketball and train in the gym. I also like to run. Of course sokker is one of my hobbies and passions.

My career in Sokker
I started to play Sokker 2005-05-08, so I have played it more than 1,5 years.
- My first season in sokker was a bit failure. I started to play in division IV.03. I won bronze medal. To be honest, at the beginning I didn`t take sokker seriously. Didn`t make any tactics and logged in only couple of times every week.
- My second season was perfect in IV.03. I started took sokker more seriously, made my own tactics and I had no problem winning the league. I won all my matches and only three! goals were scored against me.
- I started my third season in division III.12. I made some stupid faults there, because in the beginning of the season I concentrated at cup matches. That was a big mistake. Therefore I ended up at second place in my league.
- The fourth season I was playing in III.12 again. And I won it. This league was one the strongest ones in Estonia and still is. If I remember correctly, then for sure it was on the first place from 3rd divisions and in top 5 overall in Estonia.
- The fifth season was the greatest one in Sokker. I started it in II.03. I won my league and also Estonian Cup. In Cup I played with my B-squad till 1/16 finals…after that I used my best players to get what I really desire. Only one goal was scored against me. I was unbeatable there. In league I was also great, not to mention the fact that I played many matches against top teams in Estonia with my B-team. And I won!!! My good tactics played big role in those wins.
- I lost my qualification match after penalties 4:3. It is really hard to win penalty death match against striker trainer.
- This sixth season was really awful for me in II.03, which is almost as strong as our Meistriliiga. I was leading my league 3 matches before the end of season, but then lost a crucial match. But I won 2 times the best rated team in Estonia - basically I destroyed him.

Conclusion of achievements during my career:
- Season 1 - Bronze medal in division IV.03
- Season 2 - Gold in IV.03
-Season 3 - Silver in III.12
-Season 4- Gold in III.12
-Season 4 - Cup winner In Estonia at season 6
- Season 5 - Gold in II.03
-Season 6 - Silver in II.03, Quarter-finalist in Cup.


My career as an Island NT manager:

What have I done during my last season? Both positive and negative sides.
+ This season was more successful than the last one. We won more matches, scored more goals and had many exciting matches against stronger countries.
+ I gave advice for national team players` owners what they should train. Not to mention the fact that I have helped lot of newbies in Island.
+ I found managers to train our young goalkeepers. For example, following players are trained in goalkeeping: Olgeir Guðgeirsson, Veigar Sigursteinnsson, Gissur Olgeirsson.
+ I found the biggest future star from a bot team, I put him on the pitch in NT match, because I hoped that one day he goes on TL and I can see his skills. That happened one week later. Say hello to Kristinn Sturlaugsson.
+ Almost in every match I tried whole new tactics. My aim was to find the best tactics for Island.
+ I have found good clubs for our young prospects..
+ Made advertisement is HT Island, but it didn´t help us much, only couple of new managers signed up.

- I am not sure, but maybe I played too many matches against strong teams. For example other young countries on the same level as us played against smaller and weaker nations. But I did it, because I wanted to found out how much we are weaker and where are our weak points. It all was for World Cup qualification phase,
- I think I made a mistake our match against Malaysia, where I played with three strikers.
I just would have played with an usual tactics and would have won for sure.

If anyone can bring out more positive or negative sides, then feel free:)

Best matches?
- Island vs Sverige 1:4
The score don´t show the real match we had against Sverige. We played equally almost during the whole match. We missed penalty shot and as Sverige NT manager told, if we have had more luck we should have been leading 3:0 after ten minutes. The reason we lost is Kalle Rand – technical player who just went through our defence.
- Island vs Australia 1:1
One of the best in this season for sure. Thorsen was our hero in this match.
- Island vs Turkey 2:3
Very unfair result for us – we lost to a big nation who has over 1000 users,
Again, Bent Thorsen scored came in the second half and scored 2 quick goals.

* We also played a great match against South-Africa, losing only by one goal.
I also would like to mention my first NT match against Österreich, we lost 2:6, but we played equal first half. Second half was a disaster due to low stamina.

Worst matches?
1. Island vs Malaysia 1:2
The worst match of the season. Here you can blaim my bad tactics for sure.
First time I tried to play with three strikers up front. Due to this our defence was bit weak.
Of course we had no luck at all.
2. Island vs Uruguay 1:3
The second match where I didn`t have perfect tactics. There were to much for Uruguay wingers to pass the ball for their strikers head`s.

*I think that`s all, these should be the matches were I failed. I am sure that some of you think why I didn`t bring out matches against Eesti and Shweiz. Eesti, the World Cup broze medalist was to strong for us. And against Shweiz I was forces to use risky tactics, it was U-21 World cup match.




The most important reason why I should be reelected.
It is very risky to elect new manager for this season. Why?
Because the first match the new manager will play should be in World Cup .
And the new manager has now experience with NT – being a national team manager is more difficult as most of you probably think.

That what we all want - better results, more wins. But I have to admit myself it is a long process.

Last friendly season was mostly testing tactics.
But I am looking forward to WC.
