Overall Manager comment:

As MTK enters his second season as head coach of the Andorran national football team, signs of progress and renewed belief continue to emerge. In a dramatic EURO qualifying campaign, Andorra came heartbreakingly close to advancing from the group stage — with everything decided in the final matchday. While the team ultimately fell short, the performance is being hailed as a major step forward, especially considering that Andorra was drawn from Pot 5 out of 6 in the seeding.

This season, the team not only solidified the foundation laid last year but even managed to improve its international ranking. That accomplishment is particularly noteworthy given the level of opposition: Andorra faced eight matches against higher-ranked teams, a formidable challenge that required grit, resilience, and tactical discipline to secure valuable points.

Statistically, there was an increase in total shots on goal, highlighting a more attacking mindset and improved build-up play. However, goal conversion was an area of concern, as the team struggled to capitalize on chances — largely due to the lack of form among the strikers throughout the campaign. On the other side of the pitch, consistency came from the defensive line, led by ever-present figures Juli Major, Joan Ramon Fans and Cristina Abuli. Both played in every single match and were instrumental in organizing the back line and providing leadership on and off the pitch.

This season also marked a significant phase in the team’s generational transition. Four players made their senior debuts after recently graduating from the U21 squad, a promising sign for the future of Andorran football.
